How we do what we do: The Town Green Special Services District is a program of self-help through self-taxation. Nearly 400 properties in the district choose to pool their resources towards making New Haven a better place to live, work, and visit. The TGSSD's primary purpose is to reinvest those resources directly back into the cultural heart of Connecticut in the most fruitful possible way.
In addition, Town Green benefits from the voluntary contributions of the City of New Haven, AT&T, and Yale University. Their financial participation contributes a sizable percentage of our operating budget.
The Town Green District is therefore a partnership between public
funds and private initiative. The work we do depends on successful
collaborations among contributing businesses, property owners, and city
government.
